I came to define refraction through the study and exploration of the Mandelbrot set, defined by the principles and theories of Benoit Mandelbrot. Here I chose to reincarnate random individual abstracts from each body of work. — In considering a shadow of light beginning its journey rotating around an object, as it continues to rotate, a new form comes to life. These forms move, change, and ultimately develop into another mutant form, developing a metempsychosis of new life. This provides the viewer a kinship between the past and the present.
Within Refraction, my Vector wire sculptures three-dimensionally document the vector points and intersections deconstructed within my paintings. The path of these vectors defines the meridians between the negative and positive sub-fractal forms which represent the internal foundation and structure of each work.
